Are you trying to edit a post category in WordPress and you are getting the error “Item not updated.” error message when saving?

Well, there’s a simple solution, and it’s all to do with the slug.

On WordPress, the slugs clash between tags and categories, so if you have a post tag that has the same slug as the required slug for the category, you’ll get the error message. Simply:

Post > Tags > delete the tag with the matching name

Then edit your Category and all should be fine!
